Information Search
The best way to pursue a resale purchase is to make sure that you are completely informed about DVC before you even go to speak to a resale agent. When we first spoke to ours, we were a little nervous and hesitant to trust him. After all, this was someone we had never met and who was 1200 miles away. All we had was a name and phone number. In addition, we had received his name from someone that we did not personally know but in fact had contacted us through the Internet. As certain as there are people that would go out of their way to help and provide information, there are others who may be only out for personal gain. We must say that 100% of the folks that corresponded with us through email about DVC were helpful, polite and genuinely interested in providing us with accurate information. After speaking to our agent we came to trust him and learned that his intentions were not to swindle us but to help us out.
Perhaps the best place to start a quest for information on DVC is with the folks that have the most information: the DVC people themselves. They are very willing to answer any question and at no time do they make you feel like you are being pressured into buying. They take an incredible "let the product sell itself" attitude which is very comforting.
The information search that we undertook on DVC was somewhat comprehensive. It began when we first considered purchasing and took the DVC tour. We saw the accommodations and grounds and learned about the flexibility of the program with the point system. In addition, our posting on the WDW newsgroups provided us with the opportunity of asking questions of 25 or so people who were presently members or who were very close to becoming members.
The Internet and the Newsgroups are a wonderful, boundless source of information on many subjects and should be wholly taken advantage of. Sadly there is not an "official" site for DVC on the Internet. The site that you are reading this on has, in our opinion, provided the most complete information that is available about the DVC on the Internet. Numerous searches for information with several major search engines has yielded only 4-5 sites to date.
