We arrived into Orlando Saturday morning via Song, early as usual. While Karen waited on the luggage, I completed the paperwork on the rental car. After gathering our luggage we picked up the car and made our way to OKW. Our vacation home was ready, a plus for OKW as they never seem to make you wait until the 'official' 4pm check-in time (as many of the other DVC resorts seem to be doing these days). When we got to our vacation home there was a fragrance or odor in the vacation home that really bothered Karen's asthma. We requested another vacation home and the front desk staff promised to have Housekeeping clean it with special fragrance free cleansers and place filters in the vacation home. As such it would not be available until 4pm. Given the importance, we didn't complain. We spent the time at the quiet pool. As a tropical depression was sitting off the coast, showers came through several times. At times they were quite heavy and we would take shelter under the umbrella.
My dad arrived around 2pm and joined us at the pool. Once 4pm arrived we made our way to the new vacation home only to find out it was worse that the first. We returned to the Front Desk and told the Manager of our situation. They gave us a third vacation home which seemed ok. Our bumpy check-in process was further complicated by having two of our three key cards not working and heavy showers continuing to plague us. Karen settled in while dad and I made a trip to Publix to stock up for the week. After we stopped in Goods to Go to order take-out from Olivia's. On our return, Karen didn't seem to be feeling well. Her asthma was really bothering her. She ended up needing to go to the hospital (via Reddy Creek ambulance) and was eventually admitted. We joked with her afterwards that she always wanted to visit Celebration Health and this was her way of doing so. Saturday sure was a long day. Karen and I awoke at 3:45 am to make it to the airport and then dad and I didn't return home from the hospital until 2:30am.
