Sunday 10/3/99
Again a leisurely awakening with breakfast on the balcony! Afterwards, you guessed it, a day at the pool. Today DJ Mike was back and as good as Saturday. Today, the group dancing was "Trick the Dancers" a musical chairs kinda dance contest where the kids had to dance crazy and then stop when the music did. Prizes were given to the ones left at the end. Actually I think that every kid that participated got something!
After spending the better part of the day poolside, we showered and made a trek to Wal-mart. As we had both been sick with real bad sinus colds, we had to make a tissue run. We had used all of the tissues we had brought down with us as well as all of those in the room and even the extra roll of toilet paper! We found the Wal-mart Supercenter just south of the Publix. We had never experienced a Supercenter and may actually consider purchasing our groceries from here in the future. We bought some tissues as well as some soothing after-sun lotion as we both got sunburned that day.
After leaving Wal-mart we meandered our way down US 1, continuing south of 510. Once past 510 US 1 is rather barren. Not much to see or do. We crossed over to A1A at the "business district" where there where lots of little shops and boutiques. Unfortunately it was later on Sunday night and all were closed. We did find the nearest Eckerd and 7-11 in this area.
After dining again "at home" we took a romantic night walk on the beach and throughout the property. We ended up in the Island Grove Packing Company and picked out our VB DVC merchandise. The two ladies at the register asked if we would be at the resort on Wednesday as that is Member day with a 10% discount on all DVC purchases. We replied rather depressed that we wouldn’t. They whispered to each other and before we knew it, we had a 10% discount on our purchases! Now that is Disney and DVC spirit! We had noticed on our prior visits to VB the difference between CMs that are "native" to Vero and those "imported" from WDW. These two ladies were "imported" as we heard them talking to a guest who was a OKW CM. We must say that this trip it was more difficult to tell the two groups apart. It seems as though they have ironed out a lot of the prior kinks.
