Wednesday 10/6/99
A relatively early morning considering that we had company. After breakfast, Stephen’s dad left for home, where we would be joining him later that day. This would be our check-out day so all last minute things needed to be done such as packing, organizing and last minute laundry would be done. We pity the housekeeping staff that has to clean the rooms of DVC members. If everyone is like us, then we leave behind a lot of garbage the last day as we empty out the refrigerator. We even brought some down to the garbage cans to help out, but it was still a lot. After gathering all of our belongings into the rental car, we made our last day at the poolg. Today, our last day with the luck we have, of course was sunny without a cloud in the sky. The pool was very refreshing as was the ocean. Today, the waves were much less brutal. It was very enjoyable. Finally, we had spent time at the beach. We had packed a last lunch and enjoyed it poolside with Lemonade slush.
As we planned to arrive at Stephen’s dad in the early evening, we showered and changed in the Buoy’s and Gulls’ rooms. After making some last minute DVC shirt purchases we pointed the car southward.
We arrived at Stephen’s dad’s house shortly before dinner and enjoyed a visit with him until our Departure on Saturday. The evening upon arrival we kept our Disney-like vacation continuing by eating at the Rainforest Café at the Sawgrass Mills mall in Sunrise, FL. We also visited the "Character Premier" where all sorts of Disney type merchandise is available for 50%-75% off the original price. It may be last years merchandise but hey, it is SOO much cheaper! Who’s going to know!
We returned the rental car to the Dollar in Fort Lauderdale. When we booked the car, to our surprise there wasn't an extra fee for dropping the car off at a different location than at pick-up. Even here in Fort Lauderdale, the procedure took about 3 minutes. We'll definitely rent from Dollar again.
And so, this ends our October 1999 DVC vacation. Next stop…………..TBA
