Day 1

Friday February 24, 2006

My flight to Orlando wasn't until 3:30pm and so I ended up working half a day. An artic front was on the way and so it was very windy. Considering the mild winter the Northeast was experiencing, this cold turn felt noticeable. It would be good to get out of the cold weather. I flew Song, as usual. On-time departure and early into MCO. I am going to miss that airline. It just won't be the same as part of the larger Delta fleet. Since my dad would be up for most of the time, I decided not to rent a car but rather to book Tiffany Town Car (found on AllEarsNet.com). It turned out to be more reasonable than renting a car for a day and turning it into the Car Care Center. While certainly a bit more expensive than Mears or Magical Express, the convenience was worth it. Given the short time I would be in Orlando, I thought it would give me more time than what it would take with the shuttle. The driver was waiting for me a baggage claim (and ironically enough so was my luggage). We loaded up and away we went. I was at Wilderness Lodge in less than an hour of landing. Check-in went smoothly. I didn't get my favorite VWL room, however. Groceries were waiting, having been already delivered.

After checking in with Karen and dad, I jumped on the boat to the MK. Main Street was jam packed with people waiting on the 8pm SpectroMagic. Since I hadn't eaten diner, I made a beeline for Cosmic Ray's. I enjoyed a Chicken Caesar while watching SpectroMagic from a distance. Afterwards, with no line at Stitch's Great Escape, I enjoyed seeing Experiment 626 and then a quick loop on the TTA. Since it had been a long day, I decided to make my way to the boat before Wishes finished and everyone tried to get out at once. I did catch part of the fireworks from the boat. Back in the room, I caught part of the Olympics to end the evening.
