Introduction

This trip would be very different from most of the other DVC trips for a number of reasons. We had planned a few days at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge in the end of April, at the end of a business trip for which Stephen was scheduled. For various reasons, we had to cancel within 30 days of arrival. Therefore, our points went into a holding account and had to be used by the end of July.

The week before Memorial Day Stephen got laid off. Feeling like he wanted to get away, a DVC trip was planned. At first we had reservations at OKW but then called and found an opening at VWL (uses almost all of our points in holding). Due to a planned vacation later in the summer (time already requested off) and a number of unchangeable appointments, Karen could not take time off from work and therefore could not join Stephen. Since this was probably going to be the only opportunity for us to use our holding account points, Karen gave her blessing for Stephen to pay Mickey a visit without her. Stephen’s dad would join him for part of the time as he does often during our DVC trips.

This trip would take place from June 4th to June 8th in a 1 bedroom at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge.

Unlike most of the other trip reports that we post on our site, this one will be written in the first person (I instead of we) as there’s only one main participant (except for when dad makes his debut)
