What is your "Home Resort"?

DVC has created the concept of the " Home Resort". This basically is the resort in which you have your ownership interest, the one in which you purchased your points. At the present time there are four DVC resorts: two at Walt Disney World; Old Key West Resort and Boardwalk Villas; Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Hilton Head Resort in South Carolina.

The cost of points and maintenance dues vary from resort to resort as does the atmosphere and theme.

The major difference and the main advantage of ownership in one over another is that you are able to make reservations at your home resort up to eleven months in advance of your stay but only seven months in advance the other DVC resorts. From speaking to numerous other members, it seems that this has not been a problem to this points. However, as each of the resorts (especially OKW) becomes closer to being sold out, the four month advantage may prove useful.
